As a business owner, you probably need to save money wherever you can. That includes getting an affordable business website. But one thing you probably don’t want to do is get a “cheap” web presence.

What’s the difference between the two?

In my opinion, it’s a matter of quality – an affordable website is an investment, while a cheap one represents money that’s thrown away at any price. In other words, one helps you make money, and the other is just an expense.

No matter how much you spend, your business website should be professional-looking, and customized for your business. It should be planned and designed in a way that’s going to help you find new customers, recruit new employees, and improve the visibility of your business. In other words, it’s developed specifically for your company, and with an eye towards a good long-term return on investment.

A cheap website, on the other hand, is something that the designer (and maybe one with little or no experience) throws together as quickly as they can. It’s better than having no website at all, but not by much. And it won’t be long before you’ll be thinking about upgrading it or replacing it altogether.

There’s nothing wrong with looking for affordable web design — but remember the difference between a low-cost web presence and a cheap one that ends up doing more harm than good in the long run.
