Can the biggest search trend of the decade be quiet and loud at the same time? It’s a question worth asking, because voice search – a feature found in Google’s phone apps and the new version of Windows – is becoming more and more popular by the day… and changing the way people look for products and answers on the web.

In particular, voice search is leading to longer, more natural search strings. While someone might type “Chicago restaurant” and a Google search box, they are more likely to say “best Italian restaurant in Chicago” when they are searching via voice.

For marketers, this means less dependence on individual keyword phrases, and more on the overall content and relevance of their websites. That’s good advice no matter what kind of customer you’re trying to attract though, regardless of whether they’re using voice search or not.
